Call to Action: Tillis & Burr Should Withdraw Kavanaugh Support

As you probably already know, one of the worst candidates for Supreme Court in a very long time has been nominated by the President. It’s no secret that Judge Brett Kavanaugh is his choice because Kavanaugh believes that a President should not be investigated while in office. With the Mueller investigation into Russia’s tampering with our elections and the President’s alleged collusion with Russia on it, it is more important than ever that the President have a Supreme Court that will swing in his favor. The smearing of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and now Deborah Ramirez is especially heinous, given the President’s history of sexual misconduct with women.

Please take a few moments and contact our Senators, Thom Tillis, who on the Senate Judiciary Committee and is up for reelection in 2020, and Richard Burr, whose term expires in 2022. Let them know that they need to withdraw any support for Kavanaugh and that we will remember their answer when it comes time to vote. Tillis is already telling constituents that Kavanaugh has been investigated six times and that he is determined to vote for him. He has made up his mind without hearing all the evidence.

A second woman, Deborah Ramirez, has stepped forward and said that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her. This time while he was an adult of legal age, in college at Yale. Clearly another FBI investigation into Brett Kavanaugh’s background needs to be done, to address the claims of Dr. Ford, Ms. Ramirez, and other people who have made allegations against him. Kavanaugh is not fit to sit on the highest court in the land. We now know that Senate Republicans were aware of the new allegations against Kavanaugh and tried to speed up the nomination process before the second story came out. We need to demand that Tillis and Burr withdraw support for Kavanaugh immediately.

Thom Tillis: DC: (202) 224-6342
Richard Burr DC: (202) 224-3154
It may be helpful to contact Sen. Susan Collins of Maine((202) 224-2523)  and Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska ((202) 224-6665), as they are seen as possible swing votes.

Script for Burr & Tillis:
Hello, I am a constituent from _____________ calling to urge Sen. _______________ to demand that Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court be withdrawn. It is outrageous that Senate Republicans were trying to push through the Kavanaugh nomination, knowing that new allegations of sexual assault were forthcoming. Republicans are showing yet again that they do not value women. It is time to pull this nomination and to wait until after the election to allow time for the next nominee to be properly vetted. Thank you.

N.O.W – Kavanaugh Must No Longer Be a Nominee for the Supreme Court.
